Once we finished our planning we went right into creating the animation on the 17th of November. We decided to use DSLR cameras to help keep the quality of the animation to a good stranded. We decided that we shouldn't worry about lighting due to the lights at college being strong enough to light the set. We didn't want to use natural lighting from outside because we had to record at different times of day, making the light inconsistent. We also didn't want to use the lamp lights due to them becoming increasingly hot, creating health and safety hazards and possibly melting the clay. It was decided that I do the animation while Ryan does the camera work, offering to switch when needed.
The room we were working in, AO13, had plenty of access into the room however didn't have that much space to work in, due to other students moving about and with the tripod constantly moving it would often hit the table. We were however able to get going with the animation despite this.
Both of us made the models with Ryan creating the UFO, Rose and Yellow Statue, and I created the Alien, and the two characters. With this work spread out between us we managed to get them finished on time.
We got a background shot of the sky for the title of the animation with the UFO coming into shot. We decided to make the scenes as close as we could to the storyboard however added more scenes to extend the length time. One such scene that was added was a slow motion bullet shot near the end of the animation.
We had to animate the UFO coming into shot by dangling it from our hands. This became fairly tiring as time went on so both me and Ryan took turns in holding it. Because of this we managed to get it done in time, even though our arms were really tired.
One of the moments that I was most proud of is animating the melting effect on the red model. This was done by lowering the eyes and mouth and moving different parts of the model down to resemble him liquifying.
